Life proofing your research

Copy Requests

If you cannot visit the LGS Linn Research Room to photocopy records for your research, volunteers are available to photocopy and mail requests for specific records. Fees for photocopy requests vary depending on the record, and postage is included in the fee.

To request a photocopy, print the request form for the record type, fill out the form with the title, (volume number), and page number of the record you want photocopied, and send it along with a check for the photocopying fee to:

Note: The Society only honors requests for photocopying allowed under the Fair-use clause of the Copyright law. Any requests for photocopying, which violate the copyright of the work, will be returned along with your check.

Research Services

Volunteers from the Linn Genealogical Society can help you do research in Linn County if you are unable to come to Albany. Volunteer services include making copies of records and doing specific lookups in the material in the Linn Research Room. The following price list shows the which services are available.

Photocopy of record lookups: $1.00 per page

Orders must be prepaid and are nonrefundable. Order forms are provided on our webpage. Mail order forms to: Linn Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 1222, Albany, OR 97321.

There is no charge for quick look-ups. Examples might include a request to check for a specific name (given and surname) in our Linn County marriage license index, cemetery books, etc. Email linngensoc@gmail.com with look-up requests. Please put “Look-up Request” on the subject line.

Scanning Services

The Linn Genealogical Society has a copier/scanner in our research room. We also have a large format scanner for public use. We have a negative scanner and book scanner available by scheduled appointment.

Society voluteers are also available to do large scanning projects to life-proof your research. We ask that the Sociey is allowed to retain a copy of the scanned images for our eCollection.
