Welcome to the Linn Genealogical Society

The Linn Genealogical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Albany, Oregon. Our society is committed to studying, sharing, collecting, and preserving genealogical and historical information concerning Linn County's culture and heritage. For over 50 years, the Society has encouraged and aided interest in family and regional history through its many projects.

Research Room Temporary Closure
September 1 to mid-December 2026

The Albany Regional Museum is closed to the public for remodeling from
September 1, 2026 through mid-December 2026. The research room for the Linn Genealogical Society is not available to the public during this closure. The following research options are available:

Linn Genealogical Society volunteers are available to the public in Studio Room ?? at the Albany Public Library (14th Ave) from 11am to 1pm Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday each week to aid in your genealogical research.
The research room at the Albany Regional Museum will be available by appointment only Tuesday & Friday of each week 11am to 1pm. Request an appointment at linngensoc@gmail.com.

Research Room Located in the Albany Regional Museum

The Research Library for the Linn Genealogical Society is located in the Rod & Marty Tripp Reference Room at the Albany Regional Museum. The Tripp Reference Room is open whenever the Museum is open; usually 10am to 4pm, Tuesday-Saturday. The Museum is located at 136 Lyon Street SW in the Historic Downtown District of Albany Oregon. There is no charge to visit the Tripp Reference Room and parking is free. Visit the museum exhibits for a small fee after your visit to the Reference Room. The research room of the Linn Genealogical Society is designated as an affiliate library of the FamilySearch system of libraries. You can find out more about affiliate libraries at this link.

People, Places and Purpose: Researching Psychiatric Hospital Asylums

The September 5th meeting will be held in the Community Room of the First Christian Church due to the closing to the Albany Regional Museum for the months of September, October, November, and December. The entrance to the Community Room is from the back parking area.

Meeting time is 1 – 3pm in person or on Zoom. The speaker will present her talk first then a short break before the business meeting. All members are encouraged to attend.

Kim Jardine-Dickerson presents evidence of her love of teaching, history and genealogy.

Kim Jardine-Dickerson, RN MSN, BC, CADC who lives in Idaho Falls Idaho. She is a retired nursing professor has worked in academia through out her career. Kin started serious genealogy research nine years ago. When she found ancestors in this area Kim joined Linn Genealogical Society. She is also a member of the Daughters o f Utah Pioneers, Daughter of 98, and Daughter of the American Revolution.
